Mark Lancaster

British artist Mark Lancaster was known for his expressive paintings and stage design. Born in 1938 in Yorkshire, the artists spent his formative years working in the textiles field before transitioning to painting whilst at King’s College in Newcastle.

Many of his works in the late 90s were in memory of Andy Warhol, who he had previously worked as an assistant for, making over 200 canvases inspired by the latter’s portraits. Before this, his paintings mainly focused on grid shapes in a variety of bright colours.
