George Condo

George Condo (born 1957) is an American contemporary artist known for his distinctive blend of classical and contemporary art forms. Condo was born in New Hampshire and studied at the University of Massachusetts before moving to New York City to pursue a career in art.

Condo began his career as a painter in the 1980s, working alongside influential artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His early works were heavily influenced by Cubism and Surrealism, but he soon developed his own unique style, which he has described as “Artificial Realism.”

Condo’s works often depict distorted and fragmented human figures, which he uses to explore themes of identity, mortality, and the human condition. He is perhaps best known for his collaborations with musicians, including Kanye West and Pharell Williams, for whom he has designed album covers and stage sets.

Condo’s work has been exhibited in major museums around the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2011, he was awarded the prestigious Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts.

Despite his success, Condo has remained committed to experimentation and innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. His work continues to challenge and inspire audiences around the world, cementing his place as one of the most important artists of his generation.
